Kigali: The Brahmakumaris community celebrated the International Day of Meditation

The Brahmakumaris community who strives for charity and love on 21 December 2024, joined with others who have a similar calling around the world, in celebrating the International Day of Meditation.

The ceremony attended by the representative of India in Rwanda, was preceded by the lighting of a candle, followed by a general meditation exercise, led by Sister Sita, the representative of the Brahmakumaris Community in Rwanda.

In a speech by the representative of Brahmakumaris in Rwanda, Sister Sita, who gives meditation lessons, said that this day was established by the United Nations to be celebrated worldwide.

December 21 is an annual day in Rwanda held at the residence of the Indian representative in Rwanda.

Returning to the importance of the exercise of calmness, the representative of the family said “The exercise of calmness guides healthy thoughts, which helps people to live well in peace and tranquility without conflict”.

Sister Sita gives meditation lessons and says that the United Nations established today has already seen its importance, because it helps people to communicate, so peace is brought to the whole world.

Rwerekane Valentin is a Rwandan who started with this organization, because he has been part of it for 19 years, he said “The people who participated today understand what peace is, because if you are calm in the heart that gives peace, you live in a world of peace”.

Valentin continues to say that meditation is not only for Indians, that there are those who say that they are devils, that this is a lie, he says that it belongs to everyone, be it Christians or Muslims, that everyone should do meditation.

Ambassador Mridu Pawan Das, in the speech of the representative of India in Rwanda, announced that the exercise of calmness is important in life, because it brings peace and calmness in the heart, a person who is burdened helps to regain calmness and confidence.

On 21 December 2024, the world celebrated for the first time, International Meditation Day. The annual celebration was approved by the United Nations General Assembly on 29 November 2024.
